Andrew Kimber

Andrew Kimber is the Music Director of The Canberra Jazz Orchestra, where he leads ambitious large ensemble projects that celebrate the power, sophistication, and versatility of the jazz orchestra tradition. A saxophonist, arranger, producer, and arts leader based in Canberra, Andrew has built a reputation for creating high-quality live music experiences that combine professional musicianship with engaging and innovative programming.

Alongside his work with TCJO, Andrew has performed extensively as a saxophonist and has contributed to the Canberra arts sector through collaborations, producing, and ensemble leadership. He also produced CANcophony as Music Director of Canberra City Band’s Spectrum Big Band, further demonstrating his commitment to large ensemble music-making in the ACT.

Jason Henderson

A senior figure in the Canberra music scene, Jason Henderson provides a rock-solid foundation on the bass for any ensemble. His professional career is marked by its breadth, having performed extensively across orchestral, concert band, Big Band, and contemporary music settings.

Jason’s experience spans decades of live performance, session work, and musical theatre. He has held key leadership roles within the community, including serving as a former president of Canberra City Band Inc. and long serving member of Spectrum Big Band. Jason’s current music focus is performing as a bassist with the Australian Army Band Duntroon. Jason is known for his technical precision and "engine room" reliability, bringing a wealth of expertise to every stage he occupies.

William McNaughton

A seasoned operator with experience on the world stage, William McNaughton brings precision, discipline, and versatility to the saxophone section. His experience in ensemble playing across multiple genres and formats focuses on leading dynamic and collective playing within the section.

From the Sydney Olympic Games Opening Ceremony and award-winning performances at a national level to musicals in the USA, his career reflects both scale and refinement with the added elegance and passion he brings to the stage as a former competitive Latin ballroom dancer.

zach Raffan

Every jazz orchestra needs that powerhouse trumpet player, powerful, exciting and thrilling. Zach Raffan leads the brass section with precision, authority, and international polish. A former freelance orchestral trumpeter in Australia and Germany, Zach later performed aboard Royal Caribbean ships before returning to Canberra as a performer, educator, and founder of Trumpet Club.

Trained at ANU and tested internationally, Oisin Smith-Coburn brings a modern edge to the saxophone section. With performances across Australia and the United States, he combines technical control with a strong improvisational voice, that is both adaptable and full of personality.
